Vincent N. Joos

Lecturing Fellow in the Thompson Writing Program

I am a cultural anthropologist who works in Haiti, the U.S. Deep South and France. I am interested in vernacular architecture, domestic economies, memory and place. I am working on a manuscript entitled "Urban Dwellings, Haitian Citizenships: Housing, Daily Life and Memory in Port-au-Prince, Haiti." Building from my research, I am currently teaching a course entitled "Building Back Better: Earthquakes, International Aid and the Anthropology of Reconstruction"" at Duke University, where I work as a lecturing fellow.
