Introduction to College Teaching

WRITING 160S

This course prepares undergraduates to teach half-credit house courses. Students learn to design syllabi, create assignments, provide feedback, and implement active learning and inclusivity in the classroom. It also fosters a community of practice for student instructors to share best practices and challenges. Mandatory for new instructors and recommended for current ones, the course is half-credit, offered every semester. It includes 18 contact hours across 12 sessions, plus four weekly hours of outside work. Taught weekly, it aims for two sections to maximize flexibility. Mostly face-to-face, it allows 1-2 asynchronous sessions for special circumstances.
