Jennifer Ahern Dodson
Assistant Professor of the Practice in the Thompson Writing Program
Jennifer Ahern-Dodson's research centers on the role that community plays in shaping attitudes toward writing, fostering self-authorship, and cultivating learning spaces that promote rigor, creativity, critical reflection, and civic engagement. She has been involved in a number of interdisciplinary initiatives focused on public scholarship at Duke, leads faculty learning communities that explore pedagogical innovations in writing and undergraduate research, and teaches digital storytelling and student activism. She founded the Faculty Write Program and is the Associate Director for the Duke Language, Arts + Media Program. Since 2002 she has co-created Durham-based storytelling projects with students and community members.
